Chiang Mai – Day 21

It’s officially three weeks since I’ve been in Thailand. It’s crazy to me that it’s been that long. It seems this trip might go a lot faster than I expected. So far though, it’s been great. This hasn’t been a typical trip that most people would go on. This to me is a work retreat. It’s a time to get into a new environment, away from the norm, and focus on producing work, learning, and thinking about the course of my future. And so far, this has been incredible.

I feel a lot clearer about the direction I’m going professionally and the amount of work I’ve done in the past three weeks. I’ve created the MilliardCo. website, posted every day for the past 11 days, finalized changes to Network & Market before I start publishing content, read a book, plotted out plans, finished two courses in SEO (4 more to go), and worked on understanding fundraising for a startup. My goals before I head back to California are: Finish 3 specializations (about six courses each) in SEO, Social Media Marketing, and Marketing Strategy, have a consistent income through Network & Market, and raise funding for Minidesk ($2 Million series seed).

When I get back, I’m aiming to start a marketing podcast for startups. The goal would be to condense my learning as much as possible in the marketing/growth hacking startup world. I figure I’ll interview rockstars in the marketing space and see what they are doing to help grow their companies. Also, I’ve applied for a masters program in comp sci. Hopefully, I’ll be starting that part-time when I get back home. The program starts January 16th.

That’s enough about plans and the future. Today, I decided to work from a cafe. It’s nice to change it up. It helps with the creativity and overall mood.  I listened to some Steve Larsen content, and it was outstanding content, and he gave me some solid ideas. I worked at the cafe until about 5 pm. It was a great spot that had delicious food and fast internet. I’ll probably go back again.

During my walk over to the cafe, I passed my old place…
My work area. It’s nice being able to set up shop pretty much anywhere with an internet connection. I sometimes forget how blessed I am to do this.
The bakery area that kept calling my name but I resisted.
The patio area.
They made a great Tom Yum chicken soup. I also had another dish but ate it way too fast to even take a picture.

Before I was packing up, I was considering ordering more food and taking it to go, but I had already ordered twice from this place and the third time just felt too much lol. I ended up going to another location close by to pick up some food to go. It looked delicious, and they had a dessert that was almost irresistible. Unfortunately, when I got there, they didn’t have it.

At the cafe, I happen to walk into a group of all foreigners that were networking with each other. They were all bloggers of some sort traveling out to Chiang Mai. It was pretty cool seeing a bunch of lifestyle bloggers being there. You look at these blogs but seeing people in real life pulling it off was pretty cool.

Fried panko avocado and an almond cake thing. Both delicious.

After I picked up my food, I headed back to the place. Relaxed for about an hour and then did some research for syndicating my content for Network & Market. After the research, I looked at the pitch deck from Minidesk that Aeron worked on and made some suggestions. Then I went to the gym and worked out legs or at least did my best with the equipment there. I headed back around 11 pm. I showered and almost finished up my 2nd course on SEO fundamentals. Now, finishing up this journal and getting to sleep.
