Canggu, Bali – Day 13

Alright, second to last day in Bali. It seems like I’ve been here much longer. I’m looking forward to the change. I can’t believe the trip is almost coming to an end. I’ll have two more weeks before I wind things down a bit and transition into vacation mode for the most part.

I worked from the villa for most of the day. I went to the closer Bali Buda cafe to get some breakfast. I had their Iced Americano and avocado toast with poached eggs. The toast was good, but they added green beans and bean sprouts which made odd. I brushed off the bean sprouts. I was disappointed they didn’t have bacon. I think it gives the savory/saltiness that the avocado toast lacks.

I only brought my Ipad and pen to the cafe. I didn’t want to work there, but I wanted the option to brainstorm a bit. I had a great brainstorming session about StationGeek. I designed some core products that I think were pretty cool. I’m excited about being able to work on StationGeek part-time. Once I get Network & Market in cruise control, I’ll be able to transition into Minidesk full-time and Stationgeek part-time.

I’m looking forward to it. I think Stationgeek has a lot of potential and could be a bigger business than I’m imagining.

After the brainstorm session, I headed back and picked up two durian. I think I’m over durian now. Lol. I worked from the villa. I ended up going to a Yess Warung for lunch. Warungs are small family-owned businesses, usually a small restaurant or cafe. The food was left out in the open so it looked questionable. I ate it cautiously but it seemed okay and it was delicious. I made sure there a ton of reviews on the place before I even tried it. I don’t want stomach issues before heading out.

After lunch, I worked a little bit more and then decided to clear my mind and enjoy the last couple of days in Bali. I went to the beach just down the street. It was peaceful and a great way to unwind. The view was beautiful, the weather perfect, and there were just enough people on the beach to not feel crowded. I walked down the beach and made my way back to where I started. I sat down and just enjoyed the sunset.

While sitting on the steps, I noticed a few people picking up trash on the beach. I noticed more people joining in and I was curious who they were and why they were doing it. As it got dark, the people cleaning up stopped and dropped off the trash near me. I asked the guy why they were doing it and it turns out he had just moved there two weeks ago from Malaysia and couldn’t stand all the trash so he just started cleaning up the beach with his girlfriend two weeks ago.

As they cleaned, more people joined in with them and they started a little movement of beach cleaners. It was odd, but I had the strongest deju vu as he talked about what they were doing. It was inspiring to hear that they were making a difference by just taking action and everything else falls into place.

I ended up talking to them for a little bit and it got pitch black and I still had to walk through water to get back to my moto. I got to the moto and headed back home. I went to the gym and worked out legs. The heat kills me here. My work out wasn’t the best but at least I got into the gym. I came back and took a dip into the warm pool to cool off. I showered and went to get some dinner at Sizzlewraps and boy was it delicious. I finished up dinner with mangosteen and now finishing up this journal blog.

Tomorrow is my last day in Bali, so I’ll go to my favorite places for one last meal. I’ll definitely miss the food and my moped. It was good to me. I’ll spend the rest of the day doing some work, packing up, and prepping to go to back to Bangkok. That’s all for tonight!
