Canggu, Bali – Day 11

Today was a great day. I’m not sure why but I feel all the positive emotions. I’m grateful, joyful, happy, relaxed, thankful, and at peace. Hopefully, after dissecting today, I’ll be able to pinpoint the cause of it being a good day because I can’t quite put a finger on it yet.

I woke up without my alarm today. I started the day when my body wanted to wake up. I got ready and went to the small farmers market where they sell fruit, veggies, trinkets, snacks, and different locally sourced and made items. I grabbed 3 kilos of mangosteen for 25k IDR each. I purchased two dragonfruit, guava, avocados, cashews, and almonds. It’s MUCH cheaper buying locally rather than the supermarket. It’s about two times more affordable.

I packed up my goods and headed over to Rise n Shine for breakfast. I ordered my usual meal there with a coconut and a long iced black (Iced Americano). While eating, I had a stomach ache, and I wasn’t sure from what. I ate quickly and headed home back to drop off the fruit and then pack to go to the beach.

I’ve checked out most of the local beaches, so I decided to venture out a bit further, closer to Seminyak, to Batu Belig Beach. I walked a long stretch of the beach to check it out, and I was saddened to see the amount of trash that washed up on the beach. This was similar to Ko Lanta. Plastic and debris lined the entire coast, destroying the beauty of the beach.

I walked far down and eventually was flagged down by a local lady selling beach bed rentals. You have to pay to use the lounge chairs they set up. I bought one and stayed for an hour or so. I started getting restless lying there. It was relaxing, but I got bored pretty quickly. I packed up and left shortly after an hour.

The beach is near the Savage restaurant where I ate the coconut chicken. It’s a delicious meal, so I ate there again after leaving. It was about 5 pm when I ate. I wanted to get back before it got too dark. The meal was good but the side dish I got smelled funny, so I didn’t eat it. I enjoyed my meal but ate quickly.

I’m enjoying riding the moto now that I’m much more comfortable on it and have a better understanding of traffic flow. It was a nice cruise back just as the sun began to set. On my way back, I wanted to find a local durian stand. The durian I had last time from the supermarket didn’t seem to do it justice. Fortunately, I was able to find one. I purchased it for 25k IDR which is roughly 2 dollars. They are smaller in size and can be easily eaten by one person. I tucked my King fruit in my moto and headed back to eat it along with the other exotic fruit I had waiting back home.

During my ride back to the house from the durian stand, I passed by the most beautiful rice field and had to stop. It was picturesque and so peaceful to look at. One or two people were working in the field, and it had a peaceful aura about it. It reminded me of the simplicity that life can have. We get so easily entangled in progress and forward movement that we take away from the beautiful simplicity life offers. We make up the worry and stress. We create the thoughts that trouble us. The view was settling in my soul.

I headed back and had my durian and mangosteen. Delicious! As I headed into my villa room, I dipped my foot into the pool and the water was warm and welcoming. I dropped my things and took a dip in the pool, and it was perfect. The water was at this perfect lukewarm temperature that matched my body temperature. I’ve never felt something so relaxing and not shocking to the body. I swam for 30 minutes or so and just enjoyed it.

I jumped out of the pool and rinsed off. As I was about to shower, I realized I had one more day on my week gym pass so I figured I’d get one work out session in before it expired. It was one of my best workouts in Bali. Other times, I’ve been worn out by the heat that I couldn’t exert myself as I usually would. Maybe my body acclimated, but I got in a great work out.

After the gym, I showered and watched an episode of Boruto (sue me I still watch anime). I have three more days here in Canggu, Bali, and then I head back to Thailand on Thursday. I’m going to enjoy my last couple of days and soak it in. Bali has grown on me, but I’m still ready to begin the last leg of my journey in South East Asia. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made, and I’m thrilled I went for it. It’s been eye-opening and fear shattering in so many ways. I’ll probably have a post about it when my trip ends.

Now I think I can address why today was such a good day. It’s a combination of appreciating the opportunity I’ve been giving travel solo through South East Asia. It’s a ridiculous opportunity, and I’m super thankful. Also, I think I’ve had more clarity with business direction, and it’s been helpful. I’m still feeling my way through things, but I have more hope.

Alright, that’s it for today. Calling it an early night so I can rest up to get back on the horse tomorrow!
