Bangkok – Day 3

Day 3 in Bangkok already! Maybe time is different in South East Asia (SEA) because I feel like it’s flying! I’ve been in SEA for a full month now. I have a little less than three more months here, and I feel like it’s going to go pretty quickly. I have a lot I want to accomplish out here which is why time feels so fleeting. The last portion of my trip begins when my buddy flies in will be December 5th – December 24th. During that time, I plan to explore and be a tourist so I can’t count the last month for work. Right now, I’m heavily in work mode and want to get quite a bit done while I’m here in the next two months.

With Network & Market, I want to have all the system pieces in place before I go back to the States so that I’m not working on “building” things, but I’m focused on mainly marketing. The challenging part about being a solo entrepreneur is that you have to be competent at many things which deters you from being good at one or two things. You can make a living from it, but I assume that you could do more honing one to two deep skillsets and being a generalist in other fields that bolster your one to two deep skillsets.

For example, if you’re a digital nomad, someone who codes and builds smaller businesses while traveling, you need to know a lot of different things to get your business going. You need to code your software, and you also need to be the marketer of your product. These two fields are extensive in knowledge. As a developer, there is back-end development which is the database, and then there are front-end developers who create the look and functions of the website. Don’t even get me started with all the tools or the number of software languages one could learn. Then you have marketing. Marketing is so broad in its function.

I bring this up all to say that I’d love to get to a point where I’m focused on marketing and not building. It’s hard switching back and forth between building mindset and marketing mindset.

Also, I need to start spending more time on fundraising for Minidesk. I plan to start doing some research on VC’s in Bangkok. It seems there is a thriving community here. It would help if I’m no longer in creative building mode but focused in all areas on marketing.

As for today, I spent it mainly working. I set up a couple of ads to promote the recent blog I wrote. Things are moving nicely. I did grab some lunch from downstairs and enjoyed the view while eating.

Ordered enough food the entire day so I didn’t have to keep going back and forth. I ordered the items with the most amount of veggies but still fried…

After some work, I went to the gym, and it so happened to start raining right when I decided to go.

You can’t see it, but it’s raining in the picture.

I went to the gym and got some laps in at the pool. The pool is better than expected. The water is clear, and it’s a large infinity pool. I did about 25-30 laps hoping to see how realistic it would be to complete an Ironman 70.3. I had some eye-opening epiphanies while swimming that I posted about on my Network & Market Facebook page. It’s about taking on challenges that you’re afraid of because that’s when you start realizing your limitations. It brings it up to the surface so you can fight against them. I plan to train for an Ironman and start Muay Thai when I get back to the states. Pretty excited about that.

I had the entire pool to myself. I guess everyone is partying on a Friday.
When I got back to the room, fireworks were going off in the distance.

After the gym, I showered up and went over some SEO course material and watched the Israel video on The Bible Project.

I might go exploring tomorrow. It’s a bit late and I’m not sure I want to do the research to figure how and where to go. I also want to keep working so I guess we’ll see. After
