Business Update #10

It’s been a long time since I’ve done a business update. Lots of things have changed so it’s time for a significant update!

The last time I did any real business update was January 22nd in this blog here. I can’t believe that has been more than a year ago! Obviously, a lot of things have changed in my personal and business life. I’m now married and I’ve settled in Houston with my wife Jennifer and my dog River. The business has evolved more than ever as well.

Big Picture

Ever since the January 22nd blog, I’ve been working diligently on moving the plans into action. I’ve clarified what I want to work on and I’ve put together a legal structure for how I want everything to operate.

I recently set up the holding company and now I’m in the process of incorporating Unwage Ventures LLC. I had an LLC created for Unwage but it was created in California. I’ve since closed down that business in California and I’ve moved it to Wyoming. My holding company is also set up in Wyoming. The fees, privacy, legal precedence, and business-friendly environment makes it much more appealing. California is a crap show and makes it extremely hard for any business to function.

Unwage Ventures LLC

Unwage Ventures will house Unwage.com and all the E-com businesses that will be created through Unwage Ventures (UW).

Unwage.com

Unwage.com will be a place where I get to teach new business owners all the things I’m learning. The goal is to help aspiring entrepreneurs find a business and help them grow it. This will be my way to provide value to others and build a follower base in the process. Unwage.com will constantly be evolving but it’s a way for me to continue learning and giving back to others.

Studio

At Unwage Studio, I’ll be building out a company that builds E-commerce brand companies. The focus will be to build out strong brand companies rather than just Amazon businesses or private label businesses. We might use those strategies early on but I know to create longevity and value, building a distinctive brand is going to be important.

We currently have one E-com brand that we’re building that has gotten some pretty good traction. It’s a nail product company that I’m working on with my sister. I jumped on board in September 2022 and the goal is to build knowledge on how to build E-commerce companies and get a valuation of $10 Million in 3 years. In the process, I want to build a system that is able to output lots of other E-commerce businesses.

Also, as a way to build new E-com brands and to generate cash flow, we’ll be looking at quickly launching Amazon brands to test the market. If it looks good and there is enough business to be had, I’ll branch off those companies into their own separate LLC’s and turn them into one of the brands in the portfolio.

Acquisitions

Once I get a pretty good feel for building an E-commerce business, I’ll move on to buying businesses as well. I’ll mostly stay in my lane with E-commerce. My brother currently helps people sell their E-com businesses so that works out really nicely. Hopefully, in a year or so, I’ll be able to buy another E-commerce business.

Management

As I get really good at building out E-commerce businesses, I’d like to build a portfolio of companies managed by CEOs/operators. My focus will transition from operating and instead, I’ll work on managing the studio, portfolio, and management teams.

Unwage Real Estate

Once I’ve built out a pretty reliable system for Unwage Ventures, I’ll use the funds to start buying up commercial real estate. I want to start using more leverage and other people’s money to grow wealth. I’ll have to be smart and not view this as a risky endeavor but a way to save money on taxes, fight against inflation, and accumulate wealth for the long term.

Unwage Capital

Unwage Capital will house all my other more passive investments.

Non-Profit

At one point, I’ll feel ready to work on the non-profit. It’s not yet but hopefully sooner than later.

That’s the update for now! Lots going on and lots to work on!
