Business update #8

I tend to have these prolonged breaks from writing blogs when things get busy. The past couple of months feel like a blur. I have to make it a better habit to blog consistently because I easily forget what I’ve been doing. Blogging helps me “slow down time,” by deliberately taking the time to write down everything I’ve been doing. It’s a nice reminder and progress measuring tool.

Business Update

I’m currently in the process of selling Yellowstone. I just reread my new year’s blog post and saw that one of my goals was to get Yellowstone to 250k in revenue by EOY for 2021 and it looks like it’s on track. We’ve done over $100k in the first half of the year still being in a pandemic and the next five months are the busiest of the year because of the seasonality of the water business.

What’s really amazing is that I posted the business for sale a couple months back after my manager was starting to take time off because he was nursing a back injury. It wasn’t looking like it was getting any better and I didn’t want to retrain another manager. I was ready to start traveling for a couple of months to find out what state I want to live in. It turns out that my manager needs to get back surgery so he’ll be out indefinitely. Initially, the plan was to get him to run the store and take partial ownership of the business. That’s out of the picture now because I’m not sure how he’ll manage coming back from back surgery. The risk wouldn’t be worth it.

Luckily, I posted the business for sale and was getting some traction. I also told some customers that I felt had some potential to buy the business that I was selling. It turns out one of my good customer’s sister was interested. We met several times and they were ready to move things forward with a solid cash offer and I held ownership until September 1st, 2021. However, last-minute on July 26th (Saturday), I had a guy walk into the store pretending he was a customer. After he left, he comes back with his cousin and he tells me he found my business for sale and was interested in buying. We chat and he leaves. He messages me the next day and tells me he’s interested. He ends up beating the offer the other buyer and we worked out even better terms that worked out best for both of us. I got the full asking price in cash and I keep the business until November 1st. Those are the busiest times of the year for Yellowstone.

I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better deal. It was definitely a God thing. It also happened at the perfect time. I’ve been getting burnt out and just depressed running the store. I’ve been ready to move on to other things and start actually living life. I’ve been deliberating spending more time in worship, prayer, and reading the Word. One area that I know that I’ve needed to work on is faith. Trust that God loves me and hears my prayers. He is for me and not against me. He gives the desires of my heart when it’s aligned with His will.

God willing, the business is officially sold off in the next couple of weeks and I can begin transitioning into the next season of my life. I want to the take 3-6 months to travel to different states to figure out where I want to live. In the process, I’ll also be deciding what the next business is going to be. This time, I want to find a business I’ll commit to for 5-10 years and have the potential for a $100-250 million dollar potential. Let’s see how things turn out.

Bitcoin

Obviously, Bitcoin and crypto have been a big play of mine. All the money I’ve made on the store I’m going to be buying more crypto. I currently have a 6 figures in crypto already but I’d like to get to at least 10 BTC worth of crypto before the market takes off again. Bitcoin is currently crabbing in the 30k-41k range. I’m not sure if it breaks down to 20k or if this is the bottom.

I believe that there is a decent probability that this is a short bear market. We either dip to 20k-25k and get a lot of buyer demand there and start the next leg up in the market or we’ve already bottomed and we just stay in this crab range for a couple more months before shooting up to over 150k+ for one BTC. There is also the possibility that we enter another year-long bear market. I think the odds are 70/30 that we get a short bear market to a long bear market and I’m betting accordingly.

Either way, I think we’ll be leaving the range where anyone can buy sub-6-figure Bitcoins in the near future. This is either going to zero or this is a generational buy. I tend to think this is a generational buy opportunity. If it goes to zero, it was still worth the bet. After this run, I’ll probably stop focusing on trying to buy large amounts of BTC and just DCA every week. I’ve been doing both right now. Buying weekly and getting large quantities.

AutoTech Keys

AutoTech is mostly complete. I just need to finalize the store sale and then focus my energy on selling the AutoTech Course. I’m either going to just sell for the next 4 months while I have Yellowstone or I’ll continue it if it’s simple to manage and there is demand for it. The goal is just to make as much as possible in the next four months. I’ll probably aim for $100,000 from AutoTech and $100,000 in revenue from Yellowstone in the next four months. Everything would basically going into crypto.

Unwage

I haven’t done much with Unwage. I’m going to wait until I’ve fully transitioned out of Yellowstone and figure out what the next steps are. I do believe I want to continue Unwage as a lifelong learning thing. But I do want to start another business. I see Unwage as a personal learning journey journal and as a way to help other entrepreneurs.

Personal Life

On a personal note, I’m starting to finally focus on taking care of myself. I’m getting Invisalign to fix my underbite and straighten my teeth again even though I had braces in middle school. I’ll also be getting Lasik. I feel like I’ve been neglecting myself for a while, but now is the time to start getting other parts of my life in check. I’m looking forward to finding a state to settle down in and a house to call home. I’d also love to start being proactive about finding a wife. I’m 36 and I’m not getting any younger. I feel I’m almost mentally ready. Once I’ve found the business I want to focus on and a house to call home, I’ll have my eyes set on finding a wife.

I can’t believe this journey of my life is starting to come to an end. What started as a temporary thing became my primary focus. I felt a lot was accomplished. Yellowstone turned out exactly as I imagined. Thank God for that. I got almost the 10 BTC that I set a goal for. I got the entire AutoTech Course completed and it looks good. I also got the base of Unwage completed. I’m proud and thankful for everything that was created from when I left my dream job at Cloud Kitchens and ending up helping my mom sell her business. It’s been a wild ride. I feel it’s the turning point for me.

It’s like when Joseph finally caught his break. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve been humbled but I’m excited for the journey ahead. I’ll be writing up a blog when I’m completely removed from the business. I’ll take the time to reflect on my journey for the past 2.5 years. Then I’ll discuss my plans going forward when I know them. I live life with open arms. If today was my last day on earth, I’d still be happy. My joy is in the Lord. My time on earth is in God’s hands. I’m thankful for the time He’s given me thus far and if He’s willing, I’ll continue to carry out the vision I have on my life and use it to further the Kingdom while I still have breath on earth.

Until next update, stay thankful, faithful, and loving!
