January 16th, 2019 – My Dad Returns

I picked up my dad from the flyaway in Van Nuys today. He came back from Vietnam. A lot is going to change for him since he’s no longer living at my mom’s place. I’m glad they finally get to split but it’s also going to be a transition for both of them.

I picked up my dad and we stopped by my mom’s place to get the rest of his stuff. We drove to Silver lake to meet with my brother at Pho Cafe to get dinner together. Good pho. It was jam packed. We had dinner and then I dropped my dad off at my grandma’s place.

I headed back and went to the gym to get a leg work out in. I signed up for Magoosh’s GMAT online prep course. I don’t know for sure if I want to do an MBA yet but I do want to prove to myself that I can get a strong GMAT score and get into a top school. I don’t know why but it’s something on my mind. I think I just want to prove to myself that I can get in and not feel like a fraud. Thankfully, the GMAT scores last for 5 years so it doesn’t mean I have to go right away. I’m giving myself a full year to study for it. My goal is to score in the 720-750 range.

While I’m applying for jobs, I’ll continue to study and up my skills. I’m hoping I can find something in the next 3 months or so. I don’t have much of a financial cushion so the sooner the better. I’m thankful I have the time to think about my next moves. I already told Aeron that I can’t think about working in a startup right now. I’m mentally fried. I want to build a career right now.
