Los Angeles – Day 5

Yesterday was a bit of haze. I’m still getting adjusted to the jet lag. My biggest concern since I got back is figuring out what I’m going to do next. Finances are running low and I need a steady income stream. I have a couple options open but I’m not sure what’s the wisest thing to do.

People make starting a business, any kind of business, look so glamorous and easy, when in reality that’s not the case. You take a lot of risk both financially and professionally. Starting a business spreads your area of focus because you put on many different hats and it doesn’t make you a suitable employee because most companies look for specialists.

Starting a business also puts a wrinkle in your resume because most of the companies you start won’t be known and most likely won’t be in business because the failure rate for businesses are high.

Trying to run a business without a steady cash flow is also very challenging. But it’s also a catch 22. If you work a full-time job and work a business on the side, you have the money but you don’t have the time. Conversely, if you work a business full time, you have the time but you don’t have the money.
