Canggu, Bali – Day 12

Pretty chill day today. Not as productive as I hoped.

I went to the Machinery cafe today. It’s a nice working location. I ended up having a long conversation with someone that saw my computer set up and liked it. A nice fellow by the name of David. He recently arrived in Canggu and had just been in Ubud. Great conversation but took away a couple of hours from work.

I headed over to the Loft to get lunch where I tried to do more work, but it was hard getting into a working mode. Instead, I went back to the place to work. It was a more productive back at the villa but the lighting inside sucks. It’s the orange incandescent lights that look good but don’t give off much light.

I finished setting up two ads for Network & Market. I plan to set up another one tomorrow and get better at Facebook ads. I didn’t do much else. I went to dinner at Leroy’s which is a Vietnamese pho place. It was hard as heck to find, and the food didn’t justify the drive. If this restaurant were in LA, it would fail, but for not having Vietnamese food for so long, it was a pleasant change.

I picked up another durian on my drive back from lunch. I had to go onto the main road to get it, and I thought it would be in the same location but turns out I went to another spot that was much more dangerous to get to. Driving on the main road in Bali is torturous and potentially dangerous. I normally avoid it if I can, but I accidentally when to the wrong location and ended up braving the streets. I did get my durian, and it was delicious, so in the end, it was worth it.

Seriously, I’m going to miss the fruits in SEA the most. The mangosteen, dragon fruit, and durian are my favorite. Durian is still in season, and I’m going to take advantage of it for the next two days. I head out this Thursday, and I’m pretty excited to change up the scene. I’ve loved the food here, driving the moped, and the fruit. Working out of cafes, not so much. Spotty internet and sweating profusely because of open stores and no AC don’t make a digital nomad’s happy list.

My goal is to finish up strong in the last couple of weeks before my buddy comes in and it becomes full-on vacation mode. I’ll have two good weeks to make stuff happen. I plan to stay in tomorrow and work from home. I’ll drive out and get food, but for the most part, I’ll work from home. Wednesday, I’ll go back to all my favorite food places, pack up, and get ready to head out.
