Ko Lanta has been growing on me. It’s nice having a car to drive around and not rely on taxis. There is only one main road, so it’s very easy to get around. In the morning, we went to Fruit Tree Lodge and Cafe for some breakfast. It was American style food and a very clean look to the store. The store was indoors, and the bathroom was the cleanest I’ve seen on this island.
After a tasty breakfast, we headed to Phra Ae beach. I ran a couple of miles on the beach and then cooled off in the water. The water was turquoise and clear enough to see the beach floor 8 feet deep. It was relaxing and so beautiful. I could have stayed there and just enjoyed the weather and view for days. Off in the distance, you can see the other islands near Ko Lanta. It’s magical.
We left the Phra Ae around 2:30 pm and headed back to our house to get washed up and relax until dinner time at our friend’s grand opening of her restaurant called Salty Fish. We wanted to chill today and take it a bit easy after a busy day yesterday snorkeling and speedboating to the different islands.
The view at Salty Fish is incredible. We sat at the bench table that had a view of the beach and sunset set. The sunset here is breathtaking. As the sun begins to set, the skies turn purple and pink and reflect off the peaceful blue waters. I can now see why people come to Ko Lanta. It took a bit of getting used to, but this is an enjoyable place. I would go back, but I would stay at a Villa/Resort next time. The interior of Ko Lanta isn’t anything to marvel at, but the beaches are stunning and worth it. They aren’t busy, and it’s quite relaxing.
After dinner, we went to get some groceries in Sala Dan which is the north tip of Ko Lanta. We got some fruit, walked around, and called it a night. Everyone was tired. I think the time in the sun wore us down. Tomorrow, we plan to check out the other beaches and get some massages on the beach.
