Bangkok – Day 2

I explored a bit today so that I could get a lay of the land. Bangkok is so much bigger than I expected. It certainly isn’t a place that you can just pick a place to stay and hope things are convenient. I took a Grab to get lunch over at Bake A Wish. They had nice bakery items and pork cutlet dishes in the pictures. They also have high ratings. It was disappointing though. The cutlet wasn’t tender, and the batter was hard. I didn’t eat much of it. Also, I got this bacon veggie thing, and I swore it didn’t smell right. My stomach was queasy afterward. I ate a little and left. Not a good start.

I headed over to the Big C market/mall because that’s the closest thing there is to modern civilization in the part where I’m staying called Rat Burana which is at the south-west tip of the river below Sathon.

I was hoping it was going to be like the MAYA mall, but this place was run down and very traditional Thai. There were stands everywhere, and it was hot. I went upstairs to the supermarket, and I saw raw meat being sold out without being packaged or behind glass. It was pretty gross. They have odd rules where you can’t buy alcohol during certain times of the day. The fruit wasn’t cut like how they were in Chiang Mai. Maybe I was just spoiled over there.

It’s odd though because Bangkok is so much more commercialized and developed than Chiang Mai, but the outskirts of Bangkok didn’t seem to stay up to pace with the inner sections. I happen to pick an area without many restaurants or close by markets. It was disappointing. I bought some items and took a ride back. It wasn’t worth going to the grocery store. I don’t think I’ll be able to pick up any groceries. Luckily there is a restaurant here, but everything they make is fried and has rice in it…

The restaurant at the condo that’s my life saver right now.
The view from the condo floor level.
I love this view

I tried changing my Airbnb location, but I couldn’t back out of the two weeks I have booked. But no worries. I’m making the most of it, and it’s a good time to hunker down and get work done. I got a nice work out in, and then I head up to the top floor where I heard there was a sky lounge. I was caught off guard with how beautiful the view is! Check this out.

After enjoying the view, I showered and got to work on the blog. I also downloaded the foodpanda app for food delivery, but there were only four places that deliver and it was all pizza and fast food. I wanted to try the app anyways. I bought some chicken wings and salad from Pizza Co which is a chain out here. The chicken wings were delicious. I bought regular and Korean style wings. Some of the best Korean style wings I’ve eaten.

I ate and then worked on the blog for the next 5 hours. I finally got it up and posted on Facebook. I boosted it and will put an ad out for it as well.

That’s it! I’m pooped!
