Alright! I made it to Bangkok, and this digital nomad life is growing on me. I feel like the world is big, but it just got smaller because I can work from anywhere with a wifi signal…The technology age has its perks, and we get to live in it. As I was leaving Chiang Mai, I couldn’t help but feel super blessed that I can do what I’m doing right now. It’s such a fear-conquering experience. The world doesn’t seem so daunting when you get out there.
I’m stoked about my entire traveling set up and the useful technology that we have that makes the world smaller. We didn’t have apps before that could order you a ride, apps for navigation, booking flights online, getting notifications for them through your phone, having almost all the music you could ever consume on your phone, wireless headphones…the list goes on. I was giddy also with my tech setup too. My luggage is from Away, and it holds a portable charger in it and my backpack and has almost any electronic device you might need. I have over five external battery chargers for all my devices, ear plugs, stands, keyboard, wireless headset(s), wired headsets, extra batteries, and stands for all devices. I feel like Mcguiver with my set up. It seriously makes traveling and working very comfortable. I can’t do life without it now.
Okay, enough about my set up. Today went smoothly. I packed up my stuff and headed to the airport. I had some time, so I had lunch there and then boarded. The flight was only an hour and a half. Surprisingly, they served a meal on the plane. Unexpected, but appreciated!
As soon as I got there, I got a Grab and headed to the condo. Without exaggeration, what I thought about Bangkok and what I saw COMPLETELY different. I was blown away by Bangkok’s development. The main downtown area has tons of skyscrapers everywhere! It’s comparable to 5 downtown LA’s put together. After coming from Chiang Mai, this was a shocker. Bangkok is beautiful, and I can see why it’s a favorite place.
The ride took about an hour to get to my condo mainly from traffic. The driver told me that traffic is terrible from 5-7pm. It was bad but not LA traffic bad. I finally got to the place and checked in.
After getting settled in and setting up shop, I went to look for food. Unfortunately, there aren’t many shops around here like it was in Chiang Mai. I booked a place on the outskirts of the downtown area so that it was quieter than being smack dap in the center of the city.
I think it might have been too far, but I’m not complaining. It’s a lot harder booking a place when you’ve never seen it yourself. I tried doing research to find out the best place to stay but it’s just not the same. That’s why I learned to not book my entire lodging without being there first. I have two more weeks and if I stay in Bangkok, I’ll book it probably in the center of the city.
I ended up eating at the cafe below the gym. Then I went to check out the gym. I wasn’t intending to work out but I was there already so I ended up working out legs. Felt great to be in a bigger gym. They didn’t have many equipment there or heavy enough weight but it was doable.
After working out, I went to 7-eleven to grab some protein, water, and some snacks. I took a shower, relaxed, and now finishing up today’s entry. I plan to explore a little bit tomorrow just because I need to eat. There is a grocery store so I might just pick up a bunch of stuff, so I don’t have to keep going out. I’ll explore inner downtown this weekend. I feel the time is going to go by pretty quick here. It feels much more fast paced.
Alright, bed time. I think sleep will be a lot better here. I’m looking forward to the view in the morning.
