Chiang Mai – Day 23

Great news, I went to sleep super early yesterday. Well early for me in Chiang Mai that is. I plopped into bed around 10:30 pm and was sound asleep. I’ve been taking Usana’s melatonin, and it’s been a lifesaver. I’ve been having the hardest time adjusting my sleep. It’s not the time difference. I was doing well when I got here but then I ended up working late one night, and it just threw off the rest of my days.

Now, I’ve been working on correcting it. Luckily, I brought some melatonin, which helps your body with the level of naturally occurring melatonin in your body. It’s been working wonders for me, and once my body adapts to the new time, I won’t need it anymore.

I changed it up a bit today. I went to a cafe that looked swanky and received a lot of reviews on trip advisor. It’s close to where I am a little off the road from Nimman Rd. It’s called Rustic and Blue.

Rustic and Blue from the outside.

When I sat down and took a look at the menu, the prices were shocking for being in Thailand. They were equivalent to the US if not more. An Acai bowl was about 9-10 bucks. I guess being in Chiang Mai so long I got a little spoiled with the food cost.

I ended up getting a pretty nice duck dish and an iced Americano. This was one of my more expensive meals, but I made use of the space for a while, so it was worth it. Would I go back? Probably not. There are way too many cheap and enjoyable places in Thailand to be spending that kind of money while I’m here.

Fried duck and egg.
To the right of me, there was a jack fruit tree in between the two businesses growing a family of jack fruits…You could probably live off of the fruit trees that grow around Thailand randomly. I also so coconut trees producing a bunch of coconuts on public streets. Fascinating.
An interesting coffee shop right across the street from Rustic and Blue. I swore I saw at least 3-5 Instagrammers taking at least ten selfies and photos everywhere in the store. No shame in the game I guess.
The back patio area of Rustic and Blue. Pretty nice at night. I guess under different circumstances I’d come back here. I can see why a lot of foreigners come to this restaurant.
Another shot of the back.

While at the restaurant, I worked on a blog for Network & Market. Afterward, I tried a new place for a massage. One of the better ones for sure. I went with a simple 1-hour head, shoulder, and back massage. Legit. The lady seemed angry or something because she was going hard on my knots. She was right at the point where it was good to “I’m just about to tell you to bring it down a notch because I think you’re massaging my internal organs.”

After the massage, I got some quick dinner at the Nimman One outdoor shopping center. At the location, they happen to have a concert for finishers of a night marathon. They even had beer at the end of the run…Guess that’s a pretty good incentive for finishing it up.

I headed back, did a bit of marketing research and now calling it a night. It’s about 11:05 pm right now.
